About NATIFS

North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems (NĀTIFS), founded by The Sioux Chef Sean Sherman, is dedicated to addressing the economic and health crises affecting Native communities by re-establishing Native foodways. We imagine a new North American food system that generates wealth and improves health in Native communities through food-related enterprises.

Recipe:
4 cups of raw sunflower seeds
1 cup of maple syrup
Pinch of salt

1. Blend all ingredients in a food processor.
2. Transfer the dough to the freezer for about 30 minutes.
3. Shape the dough into balls, flatten them out, and place them on a baking sheet.
4. Bake at 320°F for 30 minutes, rotating them halfway through.
5. Alternatively, make thumb cookies with Red Lake Nation Wild Blueberry Jam. Enjoy!
