Indigenous Food Lab Market Herbal Specialist
Francesca Garcia (she/her) is of Mexican, Raramuri and Yoeme heritage. She was born and raised in California, but moved to Minnesota to be closer to family. Francesca absolutely loves the four seasons here, including the snow! But fall is still her favorite. She grew up with her mom teaching she and her sister the importance of knowing about the foods we eat and to be conscientious of where our food comes from. Francesca’s family would grow their own food when possible, which made her feel connected to the earth and her culture. Embracing her love of plants, Francesca studies herbal medicine and participates in herbal apprenticeships with her sister since living in Minnesota. She loves that working at NĀTIFS allows her to learn more about Indigenous food systems and food preparation while also having community connections.
When not at work Francesca enjoys going for walks with her boyfriend and their dog, Wednesday. She also likes reading books, watching horror movies, cooking, foraging for herbs/roots to make herbal medicines, crafting herbal tea and herbal hot cocoa blends, and knitting (but not well…yet!)
