NORTH AMERICAN TRADITIONAL INDIGENOUS FOOD SYSTEMS

Position: Project Coordinator 

Reports To: Projects & Organizational Development Lead

Location: Bozeman, MT

FLSA Status: Part-time, non-exempt (opportunity to become FT at a later date)

Hourly Range: $22 – 26.44/hr, depending on experience

 

Position Summary:

The Projects Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of projects at the Indigenous Food Lab in Bozeman, MT as assigned by the Projects & Organizational Development Leader. The Projects Coordinator leads the convening of working teams, tracks and supports the implementation, and removes barriers in the completion of assigned projects. This role involves collaborating with project partners and community, coordinating project resources, maintaining project documentation, and ensuring timely completion of project milestones.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinates Project & Initiative scoping and relationship & community building
  • Establishes regular communication and check in frameworks for project working teams & with Lab and community partners; monitors these communication frameworks to ensure effective communication is maintained across teams & networks
  • Leads the creation and maintenance of timelines, master task lists, and budgets based on the Project Charters of assigned projects with a focus on community development and Indigenous food systems (for example, Indigenous foods community events and regional community outreach, & Indigenous foods start-up projects, student education, and research projects)
  • Monitors and supports the progress of projects throughout the lives of projects
  • Removes barriers to project(s) success; seeks support from the Projects & Organizational Development Lead in removing impediments to project(s) progress as necessary
  • Maintains project documentation, tracks & reports project budgets, and evaluates project implementation and success
  • Communicates project(s) progress to the wider NATIFS organization,  the Leadership Team on a regularly scheduled basis and to the Board of Directors as requested, project partners, & community 
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with and good working understanding of Indigenous Nations of the Northern Plains and Rockies (history, way(s) of life, food systems, contemporary justice issues, and assets)
  • English speaking with knowledge of Spanish and Indigenous language value
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Experience collaborating with and accepting feedback from other departments 
  • Problem solving skills (including ability to handle stressful situations in a professional manner)
  • Demonstrable proficiency with Google Workspace 
  • Proven ability to set and meet expected deadlines in a timely fashion 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated success leading and implementing collaborating teams
  • Demonstrated success mentoring and instructing individuals in professional environments
  • Demonstrated collaborative style, cultural competency, and effective relationship building
  • Demonstrated comfort in working in multicultural and intergenerational groups
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects concurrently and completing on time

Benefits:

  • Employee contribution to 403(b) at 1% or more of salary is matched with 3% of salary employer contribution
  • Four weeks of paid time off for full-time (or equivalent for part-time) + 12 paid holidays per year paid at the part-time rate of 4 hours per holiday
